I mostly started robo riso out of frustration. I was having a hard time gaining access to risograph printing so I was determined to just find a way to do it myself. I wanted to be able to print my art myself for cheap. After stalking several second hand e-commerce sites for weeks, I won the bid for an EZ221u in Texas at $85 on Govdeals.com. My dad and I drove it up to New York and now here we are. I feel so lucky that I can learn on my own time and help my friends publish their comics. I believe the popularity and appeal of Riso printing in the art world is not just the vibrant colors and efficiency, but the power it gives artists to spread their work. Robo Riso allows me to print with a DIY spirit that I want to extend to my peers and community. I'm pretty limited with color and print size compared to other presses out there but you can do some pretty cool things with black, red, and seafoam on a 8.5x11in sheet.
I try to keep it as cheap as possible and am always up for helping people with little to no riso knowledge. Please reach out if you wanna make zines, flyers, cards, prints, whatever!
